Campaign Overview
KOFI DAY OF SERVICE
September 22, 2022
Volunteer Louder organized a one-day, multi-city opportunity to honor the legacy of musician Kofi Burbridge on what would have been his 61st birthday. In 2022, we expanded to eight cities and arranged volunteer shifts at non-profits in Atlanta, NYC, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Buffalo, St. Louis, Santa Monica and Los Angeles. Alongside music fans, members of Tedeschi Trucks Band participated including Derek Trucks in Jacksonville, Susan Tedeschi in NYC, Kebbi Williams + Mark Rivers in Atlanta. An audio message of gratitude from Kofi’s brother Oteil Burbridge was shared at each event. We created Kofi tee shirts and provided them to all volunteers as a ‘thank you’ for their time.
Our impact: 9,359 pounds of produce sorted, 6,800 meals packed, 50 families received essential pantry items, 25 cubic yards of weeds removed from vegetable beds, 15 bins sorted for emergency boxes and 3 flats of lettuce planted.
Kofi Burbridge was born on September 22, 1961, and passed away on February 15, 2019, due to complications from a cardiac condition. Kofi was an inspirational keyboardist, flutist, composer, arranger and two-time Grammy Award-winner who generously shared his musical gifts as a member of Aquariam Rescue Unit, The Derek Trucks Band and Tedeschi Trucks Band.
