September 21 and September 22, 2024

290 Volunteers - 748 Hours of Service

4th Annual Kofi Day of Service events took place at 20 nonprofits across the country:

New Day Youth (Albuquerque), Piedmont Park Conservancy (Atlanta), Sunday Lunchbox (Austin), Haley House (Boston), Feedmore WNY (Buffalo), Rivanna River Conservancy (Charlottesville), North Park Village Nature Center (Chicago), Food Bank of the Rockies (Denver), St. Johns Riverkeeper (Jacksonville), Jamestown Community Farm (Jamestown, RI), Open Door Exchange (Long Island), Westside Food Bank ( Santa Monica), Second Harvest of Middle Tennessee (Nashville), God’s Love We Deliver (NYC), Riverfront North Partnership (Philadelphia), Oregon Food Bank (Portland, OR), Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy (Marin County), DC Central Kitchen (Washington DC), Our New Way Garden (Westchester County).

Tedeschi Trucks Band crew and band volunteered together in Roanoke with One Valley, Inc at Carver Community Garden during their fall concert tour between performances in Nashville and New York City.

3,394 Pounds of food packed into boxes for seniors
3,141 Pounds of apples and pears sorted and packed
2,000 Meatballs served
1,080 Pounds of rice repackaged into 1 pound containers
800 Pounds of vegetables chopped/prepared incl. broccoli, squash, carrots, onions, tomatoes
280 Boxes packed with food essentials for families
228 Pounds of vegetables harvested including tomatoes, eggplant, watermelons and beans
102 Meals served direct to patrons
100 Pounds of canned goods donated by patrons attending  Baygrass Festival
45 Bags of debris collected, totaling 1,760 pounds, cleared from rivers and riverside trails
42 Wheelbarrows full of weeds and morning glories removed
25 Blankets, 20 sleeping bags and 10 tents donated to help people experiencing homelessness
18 Families impacted by unloading and organizing donated furniture
6  60ft garden beds cleared of tomatoes and trellising
5  Yards of mulch spread
3  Pans of cornbread made from scratch
3  60ft garden beds planted with kale, cabbage and buckwheat
1  Dodge Truck donated
½ Acre of native habitat restored by clearing 14 cubic yards of invasive ice plants

AND
Volunteers in 13 cities enjoyed generous donations of Guayaki Yerba Mate beverages.

Kofi Burbridge was born on September 22, 1961, and passed away on February 15, 2019, due to complications from a cardiac condition. Kofi was an inspirational keyboardist, flutist, composer, arranger and two-time Grammy Award-winner who generously shared his musical gifts as a member of Aquariam Rescue Unit, The Derek Trucks Band and Tedeschi Trucks Band.
