MUSICARES

April 26, 2024

We are proud to join MusiCares and the global music community to #GetTogetherDoGood and make a meaningful impact on their 2nd annual day of service, The Day That Music Cares. We created an opportunity for The Capitol Theatre’s dedicated group of staff and street team members at The Sharing Shelf, Westchester County’s clothing bank.  Together, we assembled 200 essential diaper kits and sorted over 80 bags of donated clothing. Among the treasures, we discovered some cool music-themed tops that made our hearts sing, knowing they’ll be cherished once more by other kids in our community.

For many music professionals, stress and anxiety, which are heightened by isolation, are at concerningly-high levels. The 2023 MusiCares Wellness in Music survey found that 64% of respondents report moderately high to very high levels of stress and 59% of respondents report anxiety at those same levels.

Fortunately, we have the tools to reverse the epidemic of loneliness. Volunteerism is one of the best ways we can take care of our communities and ourselves. Extensive evidence demonstrates that volunteering reduces depression, improves self-esteem and brings us closer to our community. The more we serve others, the more connected we feel; the more connected we feel, the more we serve. - MusiCares
