Renee Pfefer began her music business career in the media department at Columbia Records in 1987 soon after graduating from New York University. She created the tour publicity position and during that time, she handled tour press for many superstars, including Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, Destiny’s Child, James Taylor, and many other top acts in the business including Train, Jeff Buckley, Shawn Colvin, Bruce Cockburn, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Phil Lesh & Friends, Soul Asylum and Our Lady Peace. In addition, she handled publicity for the 2004 Great High Mountain Tour (led by Alison Krauss & Union Station and others featured on the “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and “Cold Mountain” soundtracks) as well as a non-label event, the high-profile East Coast summer music festival Gathering of the Vibes.
She formed her own independent PR firm - On Tour PR - in 2005 maintaining her focus on tour publicity. Since then, Renee Pfefer and On Tour PR have handled tour campaigns for Tedeschi Trucks Band, Celtic Woman, Rosanne Cash, Amos Lee, Lyle Lovett, Trey Anastasio, Donovan, Roger Hodgson, Bruce Hornsby, John Butler Trio, Gomez, The Gin Blossoms, Cake, Alejandro Escovedo, and many others. She also handled PR for NY/NJ-based concert promoter, Metropolitan Entertainment and led concert publicity campaigns for top performances including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Jason Mraz, Brazilian superstar Ivette Sangalo, Diana Ross, Liza Minelli on Broadway, Tool, Diana Krall, Gipsy Kings, and the remarkable return of Rodriguez (Sugarman) among others.
